Grammar Nerds Anonymous: We Judge in Silence… Mostly!
Hi. My name is... well, that’s not important. What is important is that last night, I corrected someone’s “your” to “you’re” in a meme... and I feel no remorse.
Welcome to Grammar Nerds Anonymous, where we silently fix everyone’s captions, cringe at misplaced apostrophes, and form strong opinions about the Oxford comma. (Team Oxford comma forever, btw. No debates.)
The Daily Struggles of a Grammar Nerd
We are a different breed. Here are just a few things that accidentally ruin our day:
- “There coming to the party.” (No they’re not. Not with that sentence.)
- “Definately” instead of “Definitely.”
- Random capitalization Like It’s A Victorian Telegram.
- People who use "literally" when they mean figuratively. (You did not literally die laughing, Riya.)
We’ve Seen Things…
We’ve seen emails that start with “Hope your doing good.”
We’ve witnessed resumes with “Great attention to detale.”
We’ve read captions like “To cute too handle” and lived to tell the tale.
We don’t hate you. We just… twitch a little.
Signs You Might Be One of Us:
- You get excited about semicolons.
- You have a favorite punctuation mark. (Mine’s the em dash — obviously.)
- You’ve corrected a stranger’s grammar online and logged off like a vigilante.
- You mentally rewrite restaurant menus for free.
And Yet, We’re Kind.
Sure, we judge a little. But mostly we just want to help. We know grammar can be annoying, confusing, and a little evil (looking at you, silent letters). That’s why we’re doing something huge…
